Presidential Council’s Head Mohammed Menfi affirmed during a meeting with Turkish intelligence chief Ibrahim Kalin that Libya welcomes all initiatives founded on balance and inclusivity, in a manner that preserves the unity of state institutions and ensures the sustainability of any political settlement.
Menfi received the Turkish intelligence chief and his accompanying delegation on Tuesday at the Presidential Council headquarters in Tripoli, where discussions focused on developments in Libya and the wider region, according to the council’s media office.
The media office said Kalin conveyed the greetings of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to Menfi, stressing the depth of bilateral relations and the strategic partnership between the two countries.
It added that the Turkish intelligence chief praised Menfi’s role in supporting stability and safeguarding Libya’s unity, emphasizing the importance of maintaining coordination and consultations with him on political, security, and military issues of mutual interest.
According to the media office, the Turkish side stressed that the success of any political process requires the participation of all Libyan parties and must be based on consensus and inclusivity, reaffirming Turkey’s commitment to Libya’s unity, sovereignty, and efforts to achieve a lasting national settlement.
Menfi said the Presidential Council remains a cornerstone in promoting national consensus and ensuring the success of any political process that serves the interests of the Libyan people and strengthens security and stability in the country.
Prior to this meeting, the Turkish intelligence chief held talks with Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, Deputy Defense Minister Abdulsalam Al-Zoubi, and Interior Minister Emad Al-Trabelsi.
Kalin arrived in Tripoli on Tuesday from Benghazi, where he had arrived on Monday and held discussions with Saddam Haftar on political and security developments in Libya.
The Turkish intelligence chief’s visit coincided with separate visits to Tripoli by Egyptian General Intelligence Service chief Major General Hassan Rashad and Italian foreign intelligence chief General Giovanni Caravelli for talks on the latest political and security developments.
