The mourning ceremonies of the month of Muharram and the commemoration of Imam Hussain (AS) this year in Kabul and a number of provinces of Afghanistan were accompanied by restrictions, but despite this, the mourners tried to preserve the tradition of mourning for Husseini.
Unlike previous years, signs of mourning such as Muharram flags, drinking fountains, and public ceremonies were not seen in many urban areas, and programs were mainly held in mosques, hosseiniyehs, and religious centers.
These restrictions caused a number of mourners to go to more distant districts and regions to participate in the ceremonies. Where some of the Muharram programs were held in a larger scale than in urban centers.
But despite these restrictions, the mourners tried to preserve and hold the religious rituals and ceremonies of Muharram.
