PARAMARIBO — Visual artist Pearl Brunings, who has been living in Sweden for eleven months, has released her first digital recipe book. In ‘Pearl Living – Enjoying Swedish life’ she shares ten of her favorite recipes, supplemented with personal tips, short anecdotes, photos from her life in Sweden and details from her paintings. The book was launched on Friday. The idea for the pen fruit arose after Brunings moved from Suriname to Sweden.
In addition to her art, she regularly shares photos of meals she prepares at home on social media. When followers increasingly asked for recipes and even suggested that she should create a cookbook, she decided to actually take that step. Thanks to her background as a graphic designer, she was responsible for the entire design of the book.

The recipes in ‘Pearl Living – Enjoying Swedish Life’ – are dishes that are regularly on the table of Brunings and her family. Of savory meat dishes and comfort food to surprising flavor combinations: many recipes bear her personal signature. She brings together her passion for cooking, her life in Sweden and her artistic background in a personal digital recipe book full of recipes, stories, photos and art.
Although it is primarily a recipe book, it also reflects her background as an artist. Details from her paintings are incorporated into the book’s design, bringing art and cooking together. “Just like in my art and in myself, different backgrounds also come together in my kitchen,” says Brunings the True Time for. “I love combining flavors from different international cuisines and putting my own spin on them.”
Brunings is best known as a visual artist. Her work has been exhibited in Suriname, Belgium and Sweden in recent years and is part of private and corporate collections in various countries. She also became known in the Netherlands after she came through it television dating program ‘Winter full of love’ met her partner Robin and moved to Sweden for love.
