Kottayam ∙ Ratan U. Kelkar, Secretary to the Chief Minister, said that the world will remember those who give the news first, but those who give it with credibility. He was conducting the graduation ceremony of the 24th batch of Manorama School of Communication (MASCOM).
The true mission of journalists is to present correct information with credibility and humanity. With the rapid advancement of science, artificial intelligence (AI) is able to do many things including preparing news and writing speeches. But he also reminded the students that empathy, compassion and moral sense differentiate humans from AI. He said that the students should develop 5 qualities which are curiosity to learn everything, compassion, ability to adapt to technology and mind to continuously acquire new knowledge and experiences.
Abel Mathews presented the KC Mamman Mappila Endowment for the best student to Alex. Malayalam Manorama Executive Editor and Mascom Managing Trustee Jayant Mamman Mathew presented the award. MASCOM Director V.M.Rajasekhar, Assistant Director S.Radhakrishnan and Student Representative Abel Mathews Alex spoke.
