The accident occurred at 57.5. kilometers of the D1 highway in the direction from Hlohovec to Trnava. According to the first information from the Fire and Rescue Service (HaZZ) of the Trnava region, a passenger motor vehicle collided with a truck of the fire department and road maintenance.
Firefighters from the Fire Station in Hlohovec are currently on the scene, providing first aid and securing vehicles against fire. According to official reports, one person was injured in the incident.
Drivers passing through this section must expect delays. In the direction of Trnava, only one lane is currently passable, which quickly creates queues on the busy road.
Road users at risk: A call for all drivers
Firefighters and the highway police forcefully ask drivers to be more careful, patient and follow the temporary traffic signs.
“Accidents involving road users performing their work on roads have become more and more frequent in recent times,” warns the Fire and Rescue Service.
This incident once again sounds the alarm. It took place only shortly after the news of the tragedy on the same stretch of highway hit Slovakia. On Monday evening it reached 19.4. kilometers of D1 in the direction of Trnava to a fatal accident in which a truck rammed into the crew of the Highway Patrol of the National Highway Company (NDS).
This crash, which occurred while the patrol was helping a motorist in distress, cost the life of one of the highwaymen.
Ignorance of drivers is gambling with lives
Firefighters, the NDS and the highway police once again strongly appeal to drivers to pay more attention behind the wheel, follow temporary traffic signs and respect the flashing maintenance signaling arrows.
“Accidents involving road users performing their work on roads have become more and more frequent in recent times. Therefore, let’s respect the work of all departments – even a small inattention can have serious consequences,” firemen warn.
In response to the tragic events, the Director General of NDS pointed out that drivers often do not respect the basic rules or speed limits in order to save a few minutes, thereby exposing workers in the field to extreme risk. A second of inattention or looking at the mobile phone on the highway can change a person’s fate in an instant.
