Many travelers have found themselves in the same situation at least once – they find an extremely cheap plane ticket, but the final price of the trip gradually increases due to additional fees for seats, priority boarding, insurance or baggage.
Among the airlines that are especially known for their strict rules when it comes to hand luggage is Ryanair, which allows passengers to bring in only one small bag that must fit under the seat at no extra charge.
However, one passenger shared on social media several methods she uses to avoid additional baggage charges.
Australian Dannika Harrison posted a video showing off her packing style with the joking comment that she was trying to convince Ryanair that she was only carrying one small bag with her.
Her announcement attracted a lot of attention from users, and many were interested in whether such tricks could really work during boarding.
A bag that hides more than meets the eye
The first trick is based on the use of a large shoulder bag that appears compact at first glance, but can hold much more than it seems.
After filling the bag to the maximum, she attaches additional items such as hats or light pieces of clothing to its handles or straps to free up as much space as possible inside.
Jacket as extra “storage space”
Another method involves using a jacket to conceal extra luggage. Simply slip a jacket over a full bag to make the bag look smaller and less conspicuous.
In addition, part of the clothing can be placed in the travel neck pillow, which thus acquires a completely new purpose and enables the introduction of a few more pieces of clothing without taking up space in the bag.
Attention bag
The third trick is based on carrying a smaller bag that fully complies with airline rules.
While other things are hidden under the jacket or arranged in other ways, this particular bag gives the impression that it is the only piece of luggage that the passenger carries with her, so the extra load does not attract the attention of the staff at the boarding gate.
Although her advice caused numerous reactions on social networks, travelers should still remember that airlines have the right to control the dimensions and number of pieces of luggage and to charge additional fees if they determine that the rules have not been followed.
