Jessica Hausner, who breathed new life into Austrian cinema in the early 2000s and brought a new global reputation, will head the jury of this year’s “Golden Apricot” International Competition.
Every few years, Hausner causes a stir at European film festivals with his innovative psychological dramas, which traditionally premiere in the Main or Special View programs at Cannes. This “shock” journey began in 2001 with Hausner’s debut film “Dear Rita”, which immediately became a classic example of Austrian cinema.
In a reality where Austrian film culture was flooded with commercial films, Jessica Hausner created her own unique genre cinema, deeply influenced by the creative legacy of her great relative Michael Haneke, the genius Stanley Kubrick and sometimes David Lynch.
The 23rd Yerevan “Golden Apricot” International Film Festival will be held on July 12-19, 2026. This year again, the film festival will present competition and out-of-competition programs from around the world, as well as films from prestigious international film festivals, including Cannes, Berlin and other leading film platforms.
During the festival, world-renowned cinema authors, directors, actors and industry specialists will arrive in Armenia, who will present their experience and art to the Armenian audience, creating an exclusive platform for dialogue, new ideas and cultural exchange.
