A kitten rescued by CGDIS firefighters after becoming trapped inside a pipe in a garage has been named after one of the rescuers who helped free it. The kitten’s owner, Manette Schon, shared the story in a heartwarming Facebook post and provided further details when contacted.
Schon had been caring for a mother cat and her five kittens in her garage until they were old enough to be rehomed. The mother and all five kittens had already found prospective owners.
On Saturday morning, while potential adopters were visiting to meet the kittens, one of the young cats suddenly went missing. It was soon discovered trapped inside a pipe in the garage.
Schon called the Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS) for assistance, but rescuers were initially unable to free the animal. It was only after part of the concrete floor in the garage was broken up, allowing firefighters to locate where the pipe emerged, that the kitten could finally be rescued.
In her Facebook post, Schon revealed the kitten’s new name: Joe, after one of the CGDIS crew members involved in the rescue operation.
