Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed his optimism about the results of direct negotiations between the United States and Iran, with the launch of their new round, stressing that these talks may contribute to enhancing security and stability at the regional and international levels.
Sharif said at the beginning of the negotiations that the world is witnessing an important day that may lead to the consolidation of peace, expressing his confidence in the possibility of reaching a document that contributes to building a lasting peace, and stressing his aspiration for positive results from the discussions between the two sides.
He also praised the efforts that led to direct negotiations, expressing his appreciation for the role played by the United States in this path.
For his part, US Vice President J.D. Vance announced his participation in direct meetings with the Iranian side to discuss the outstanding issues between the two countries, noting that progress has been made during the past hours in the course of negotiations.
Vance stressed the continuation of efforts aimed at supporting regional stability, including working to stabilize the ceasefire in Lebanon and turn it into a permanent agreement.
He explained that the United States attaches importance to ensuring the flow of oil and gas supplies in the Middle East region, noting that the American administration seeks to support security and stability and enhance opportunities for peace in the region.
He added that his country looks forward to building on the steps taken recently in a way that contributes to enhancing regional stability and freedom of international navigation.
