LUCENA CITY, Philippines — A private school in General Trias City, Cavite, where seven students were wounded in a recent stabbing incident, has temporarily shifted to online learning next week as it implements additional security measures.
In an advisory posted on its Facebook page on Sunday, June 21, Bethel Academy of Gen. Trias Cavite Inc. announced that classes would be conducted online from June 22 to 26.
“As we continue strengthening safety and security across both campuses, classes will temporarily shift online from June 22 to 26, 2026,” the school administration said.

The school explained that the temporary arrangement would provide time to prepare and implement necessary safety measures before students return to campus.
“This will give us the time needed to carefully prepare and put the necessary measures in place before welcoming our students back to school,” it added.
School officials acknowledged the anxiety and concern experienced by students and their families in the aftermath of the incident.
According to the advisory, class schedules and Zoom meeting details had already been sent to parents and guardians via email. The administration also said a separate advisory regarding the limited resumption of face-to-face classes would be issued next week.
“Thank you for your patience, understanding, and continued prayers. As a community of faith and learning, let us continue to pray for God’s wisdom, peace, and guidance as we navigate this difficult time together,” the advisory stated.
Police have withheld details of the June 16 incident and have not identified the students involved, citing the protection of minors and the ongoing investigation.
Based on earlier reports, the alleged assailant, a 14-year-old female student, reportedly used a kitchen knife to stab several students inside a classroom.
General Trias Mayor Luis “Jon-Jon” Ferrer IV said the wounded students were immediately taken to a hospital, with two later transferred to a larger medical facility for surgery due to the severity of their injuries.
The mayor added that social workers had been instructed to provide psychosocial intervention and assistance to students who may have been traumatized by the incident.
The alleged attacker was subsequently brought to a mental health facility for evaluation. /das
