The nationally known and respected actor and singer is honored with an award. Anda Otto Schmidt receives the encouragement award.
Naalakkersuisut’s cultural award is today assigned to Agga Dam Pedersen. It happens during a solemn event in the cultural center Katuaq in Nuuk.
Agga Dam Pedersen is an actor and singer and is well known throughout the country.
It is Naalakkersuisoq for education, culture, sports and church, Nivi Olsen (D), who presents the award.
– Agga Dam Pedersen is a distinctive artist who throughout his life has shaped Greenlandic culture. She started with children’s programs on the radio and then became a popular figure through TV classics such as Nissikkut and Atsa Rosa.
– With a solid education from the Tuukkaq Theater and a versatile career in theatre, film and music, she has contributed to conveying Greenlandic stories to a wide audience.
– Her efforts have inspired generations, and in 2024 she was honored with an honorary award at the Nuuk International Film Festival. Naalakkersuisut is therefore awarding her this year’s culture prize, says naalakkersuisoq in a press release.

Agga Dam Pedersen turned 75 on 6 May.
Naalakkersuisut founded the Greenlandic Culture Prize in 1982. It is awarded together with 50,000 kroner to one or more persons or organizations who have made an extraordinary contribution to cultural life.
Anda Otto Schmidt receives the encouragement award
Also the encouragement award is presented during the ceremony by naalakkersuisoq.
Anda Otto Schmidt, better known as the artist Andachan, receives the encouragement award. He is a musician.
– Anda Otto Schmidt, known as Andachan, receives the encouragement award for his strong artistic development and his unique contribution to Greenlandic music.
– With a special ability to unite Greenlandic language and culture with modern electronic soundscapes, he has created a distinctive and internationally relevant musical voice.
– His talent, persistence and increasing recognition – both nationally and internationally – make him an inspiring representative of the new generation of musicians in Greenland, says naalakkersuisoq.

Anda Otto Schmidt turns 31 this year.
The incentive prize comes with DKK 10,000. Naalakkersuisut has been handing out the encouragement since 2016.
