Today, the Shura Council held its regular weekly session, in the Tamim bin Hamad Hall, at the Council’s headquarters, headed by His Excellency Mr. Hassan bin Abdullah Al-Ghanim, Speaker of the Council.
At the beginning of the session, the Council appreciated the participation of His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of the country, “may God protect and preserve him,” in the G7 summit, at the invitation of His Excellency President Emmanuel Macron, President of the friendly French Republic, stressing that this attendance reflects the high status of the State of Qatar on the international arena, and the growing appreciation for the role of His Highness the Emir in supporting dialogue and enhancing security and stability.
The Council also affirmed that His Highness’s participation in the working session on overcoming crises and enhancing stability in the Middle East embodies the pivotal role of the State of Qatar in supporting diplomatic solutions, ensuring the security of international navigation and trade, and enhancing international cooperation in facing common challenges.
After that, His Excellency Mr. Nayef bin Mohammed Al Mahmoud, Secretary-General of the Shura Council, read out the agenda of the session, and the Council also approved the minutes of its previous session.
During the session, the Council approved a draft law on animal welfare, as amended, and referred it to the esteemed government, after reviewing the report of the Health, Public Services and Environment Affairs Committee, and discussing its details by the members.
His Excellency Mr. Hassan bin Abdullah Al-Ghanim, Speaker of the Shura Council, also informed the Council of the referral of a draft law amending some provisions of the Civil and Commercial Procedure Law promulgated by Law No. (13) of 1990, to the Legal and Legislative Affairs Committee for study, based on the provisions of Article (114) of the internal regulations of the Shura Council.
On the other hand, during the session, the Council reviewed the report of the participation of the Shura Council delegation in the work of the forty-first session of the Executive Committee of the Arab Parliamentary Union, which was held via video communication technology last April, and the report of the participation of His Excellency Mr. Khalid bin Abbas Kamal Al-Emadi in the eighteenth general assembly of the Scout Union of Arab Parliamentarians, which was hosted by the Kingdom of Morocco last May, in addition to the report of the participation of His Excellency Dr. Hamda bint Hassan Al-Sulaiti, Vice-President of the Shura Council, in the World Conference of Women Parliamentarians of the Parliamentary Union. International, which was held in the Republic of Serbia last June.
