The Federation of University Centers of the Central University of Venezuela (FCU-UCV) announced that will not attend the meeting called by the Minister of University Education, Ana María Sanjuánscheduled for Monday, April 20, by questioning that the mechanism used for the invitation does not follow the corresponding institutional channels.
The student organization pointed out that The call, distributed through the social network“far from seriousness and established official channels”and stressed that communications of an institutional nature must be carried out through formal administrative procedures.
In a letter addressed to the minister, the FCU affirms that the country’s main educational institution “deserves a dialogue in accordance with its institutional representativeness and not the lightness of a publication on social networks.”
“We are waiting for you at the UCV”
The president of the FCU-UCV, Miguelangel Suárez, stated that the organization is fulfilling its own agenda of consultations with student representatives.
“We have already sent a formal response; we hope that in the future the coordination will not be via social networks to be more efficient. We are waiting for it at the UCV,” he expressed.
The leadership insisted that its priority is to meet the mandate of the General Council of the FCUan instance that brings together student representatives and where the agenda that will be presented to the ministerial office is built.
In addition to the call channel, The federation criticized that the date of the meeting responded to the minister’s availability and not to joint coordination between the parties.
He recalled that they had requested a meeting for April 22, which could not take place due to commitments from the head of the office in the state of Zulia.
“Subordinating our agenda to your personal convenience ignores the nature of your position and the necessary coordination between institutions,” the FCU warned.
Willingness to dialogue under formal conditions
Despite the rejection of the call, The student organization expressed its willingness to hold a meeting with the minister next week.
The FCU stressed that the objective of the meeting should be to build solutions for students, preventing it from becoming a merely protocol event.
