Al-Akhdar faces Spain in search of a new step towards qualifying for the 2026 World Cup
The Saudi national team seeks to take an additional step towards qualifying for the round of 32 of the FIFA World Cup, when it meets its Spanish counterpart today at the Atlanta Stadium in the city of Atlanta in the American state of Georgia, as part of the second round of Group H of the World Cup.
The Greens have one point in second place in the group in which all teams have the same score, after drawing (1-1) with Uruguay, while Spain tied with Cape Verde without goals in the first round.
The Saudi national team is looking forward to achieving a positive result that will enhance its chances of reaching the round of 32. The same applies to Spain, which is considered one of the most prominent candidates to compete for the title. The tournament system stipulates that the winner and runner-up of each of the 12 groups will qualify, in addition to the eight best teams that occupy third place.
The Saudi and Spanish teams previously met in the World Cup, specifically in the 2006 edition hosted by Germany, and the match ended with the Spanish team winning 1-0.
