Called ‘traitor’, used obscene language when approached: Sreesanth reveals against Gambhir- S Sreesanth | Gautam Gambhir

New Delhi ∙ Former Indian cricketer and Malayali S. Sreesanth has made more allegations against the head coach of the Indian cricket team, Gautam Gambhir. Sreesanth’s disclosure is about the dispute between the two during the Legends League Cricket (LLC) match held in December 2023. Sreesanth has revealed that Gambhir called him a ‘traitor’ during the match. Sreesanth also said that this was after he threw a bouncer at Gambhir. Sreesanth had earlier revealed that Gambhir had called him a ‘connivance’.

“On the very first ball, Gauthi (Gambir) came out of the crease and flicked it because he knows my game perfectly. He is a very good cricketer. I don’t know about coaching, but he’s a great player. So I bowled the next ball bouncer. So you know what he said? ‘I have bought you’. It was obvious, he was calling me bad. He said what should never have been said

. He called me a ‘fixer’. I leaned forward and asked him, ‘Gauthi bhai, are you okay?’ Because I was a fat guy, I felt like I was going to beat him. Then he was using profanity. After that he again repeated as ‘collusionist’ and ‘traitor’.” – alleged Sreesanth in an interview to Lallantop describing his experience.

Gambhir and Sreesanth were members of the Indian teams that won the 2007 Twenty20 World Cup and the 2011 ODI World Cup. But after this the relationship between the two deteriorated. Gambhir’s remarks are believed to have come in the wake of Sreesanth’s ban following the 2013 IPL match-fixing allegations.

Sreesanth was able to return to cricket in 2020 after the BCCI reduced the initially imposed life ban to seven years. Meanwhile, Gautam Gambhir is the coach of Gambhir Indian senior team. The Indian team won the 2025 Champions Trophy and the 2026 Twenty20 World Cup under Gambhir.
