A 38-year-old woman was struck by lightning while visiting a resort town in the mountains, and suffered cardiac arrest after being struck by lightning.
Witnesses at the scene administered first aid until emergency services arrived.
Later, mountain rescuers took the woman to the Jelenia Gura Valley Regional Medical Center.
Dangerous weather
The incident came as severe storms hit large parts of Poland, prompting weather warnings to be issued in several regions.
Forecasters have warned that the dangerous weather will continue into Sunday, with conditions favorable for severe thunderstorms across the country.
In addition to the storm warnings, the Polish Meteorological Institute also issued heat warnings for much of the country, with temperatures reaching around 30 degrees Celsius.
Meteorologists have also issued first-level hydrological warnings, indicating the risk of a rapid rise in water levels across central Poland, from north to south.
Storms in the Czech Republic
In the neighboring Czech Republic, temperatures soared to 36 degrees Celsius on Saturday, followed by heavy storms and rain.
By Saturday evening, more than 700 calls had been made to the fire department, with fallen trees blocking railroad tracks and roads and flooding basements.
In the town of Pribram, about 60 kilometers southwest of Prague, firefighters rescued two people trapped in their summer house by floodwaters by boat.
Storms are also forecast to hit neighboring Slovakia on Sunday, where authorities and meteorologists have warned that temperatures could reach 35C.
