If you’ve been busy with work, or stressed with life, then it sounds like you might be in need of some of today’s Danish words.
What is alone time?
Alone means alone, duck time mean hour. Put together, it means time spent by yourself.
A close equivalent in English could be “me time”. But the “me time” referred to by alone time doesn’t just imply solitude.
Instead, alone time means time spent ‘on’, rather than ‘by’ yourself to meet your own needs (although you’ll still be on your own when you do it). For some, alone time will mean some time alone to relax, or it might mean getting out into nature to switch off from the distractions of everyday life.
Alone time can also mean time spent on hobbies that one enjoys, such as painting or reading. It could also be something active that you do on your own like running.
A word similar to own time ice self carewhich means self-care.
Why do I need to know alone time?
There’s a twist to it alone time which makes the word a bit of a misnomer, and also distinguishes it from self care and the English “me time”.
That is when it’s used to mean time alone — but with another person present as well.
For instance alone time with the boss is “one-on-one time with the boss”, perhaps for a performance review or something similar. This is not an occurrence you’re likely to associate with relaxing and recharging.
However, you can also have alone time with a partner or loved one — meaning quality time together away from the disruptions and distractions of everyday life. Parents of young children going on a date together while the kids are being looked after by their grandparents is one scenario which might fit this description.
The word alone in compounds can also mean “single” — for example, single mother spirit single father mean single mother and single father, respectively. An single man is an outdated word for “bachelor”.
