He Government closed this Thursday equal increases that public workers will have until Augustwith the endorsement of UPCN majority union and the complaints of ATEone of the most belligerent unions against the management of Javier Mileiwho rejected the offer.
Between June and August This year, the state will receive an increase of 6.64%divided into three sections: 2.4% in June; 2.2% in July; and 1.9% in August. Likewise, in August a bonus of $50,000 on a one-time, remunerative basis.
In Argentina, during the first five months of 2026, inflation accumulates 14.7%while the Government hopes that it will continue on a downward path. The last measurement was in May, which gave 2.1%.
ATE denounced that so far in the Milei era public employees lost 43% of purchasing power in salaries with respect to inflation.
UPCN coincides with the fact that the salary loss of workers who are in the General Collective Agreement – that is, all public employees – is approximately 40%while placing in 35% the fall for those employees who are governed by the salary of the National Public Employment System (Sinep) -that is, those who carry out tasks in ministries and decentralized organizations-.
The Government estimates that for Sinep workers the loss was 32%.
The impact of the parity will also affect the salary of national officials. Article 3 of Decree 931/2025 of January 2 of this year determined that, from that moment on, the increase percentages that are approved as a result of what was agreed upon in the negotiating commission of the collective agreement for the national public administration are applicable to the remuneration of ministers, secretaries, undersecretaries, higher authorities, and officials with equivalent rank and hierarchy.
On the contrary, President and vice president continue with frozen salaries since Milei took over.
He salary of May (which was collected at the beginning of June) from the Chief of Staff and the ministers was gross of $8,020,866; that of the secretaries, $7,346,575; and that of the undersecretaries, of $6,672,510.
Aguiar’s complaints from Russia
From Russiathe leader of ATE, Rodolfo Aguiartrilled for the parity for the state. According to information from the union, Aguiar – one of the greatest detractors of the libertarian administration – met with union members in Moscow, together with its Latin American colleagues, and agreed on “strategies that end Milei’s policies.”
From ATE -union that never endorsed the equal increases proposed by this administration- They were displeased with the offer of the Ministry of Labor, under the command of Julio Cordero, which did seal UPCN, commanded by Andrés Rodríguez.
“This is an offer that is insufficient and that also does not contemplate a process of recovery of the lost purchasing power in the public sector,” Aguiar stated and denounced a “planned impoverishment” for the sector.
“This Government, since it took office until now, confiscated $12,000,000 on average from each of the state workers,” stated the union leader and warned that this joint venture will accelerate the conflict with the government.
Since Milei’s landing, Aguiar had a hyper-frictional relationship with the Casa Rosada, especially motivated by the layoffs in the public ranks and for the adjustment that affected the salaries of state employees.
