KOLONIA, Pohnpei – June 19, 2026 – President Wesley W. Simina congratulated 17 young men and women from across the Federated States of Micronesia during an Enlistment Ceremony held at the U.S. Embassy Compound on June 17, 2026, recognizing their decision to serve in the United States Armed Forces and commending their commitment to service, leadership, and personal sacrifice.
In his remarks, President Simina highlighted the significance of the enlistees’ decision to serve, and the opportunities made possible through the enduring partnership between the Federated States of Micronesia and the United States.
“This is your day. You have made a choice to serve in the U.S. Armed Forces, a choice made possible through the special and unique relationship that we have with the United States,” President Simina said.
Through the Compact of Free Association, FSM citizens are eligible to serve in the United States Armed Forces, continuing a longstanding tradition of military service between the two nations. President Simina noted that military service offers opportunities for personal and professional growth while contributing to global peace, security, and stability.
President Simina also expressed appreciation to the families and friends whose support has helped guide the enlistees to this milestone. He reminded the recruits that, wherever they may be stationed, they will serve not only in uniform but also as ambassadors of the Federated States of Micronesia.
Chargé d’Affaires Vincent Mut-Tracy also recognized the longstanding contributions of FSM citizens serving in the U.S. military and the close ties between the two countries.
“Under the Compact of Free Association, your nation and ours have stood side by side. We are especially proud to recognize that the FSM serves in the U.S. military at higher rates than any state in the United States,” said Mut-Tracy.
The Government of the Federated States of Micronesia congratulates all enlistees and wishes them success, safety, and strength as they begin their military service and carry forward the proud tradition of FSM citizens serving with distinction in the United States Armed Forces.
