One of the most famous detective classics of all time is returning to Slovak television screens.
The television channel Prima KRIMI SK is expanding its program offering with one of the most famous detective classics. Hercule Poirot comes to the screens, played by David Suchet, who in this role became one of the most iconic television faces of the crime genre.
Viewers will see it from July 7 every Monday through Friday at 8:15 p.m.
The series, based on Agatha Christie’s short stories and novels, is one of the most famous TV adaptations of the works of the British author, who is still known as the queen of detective stories. An elegant Belgian detective with an exceptional sense of detail will thus complement the range of crime and detective titles that Prima KRIMI SK has been bringing to Slovak viewers since its launch.
The Prima KRIMI SK channel has been broadcasting in Slovakia since September last year and is gradually building a program based on popular crime series from various countries. Viewers can already find the French Commissioner Julie Lescaut, the German investigator known as Big Ben from Tölz, the Austrian crime series Murders in Kitzbühel or the New Zealand Murders in Brokenwood with Detective Inspector Mike Shepherd.
Space is also given to British detective stories, which belong to the constants of this genre.
Titles such as Murders in Midsomer, Crimes on the Heath, Murders in Oxford and Detective Endeavor Morse appeared and are appearing on the broadcast. From July, they will be joined by another prominent character who is one of the most famous investigators in television and literary history.
The series Hercule Poirot was created between 1989 and 2013 by the British television ITV. During thirteen series, he gradually brought adaptations of almost the entire literary legacy of the famous Belgian detective.
The main role was played by David Suchet, whose performance is still considered one of the most faithful portrayals of Poirot on the television screen.
His interpretation won recognition not only from the audience, but also from people close to Agatha Christie’s legacy. The grandson of the writer herself said in one of the interviews that it is a shame that Agatha Christie did not see him, since, according to him, David Suchet portrayed Poirot exactly as the author imagined him.
Part of the popularity of the series is also the Czech dubbing, which was created for Prima television. Actor Jaromír Meduna lent his voice to David Suchet in most episodes.
Hercule Poirot is a former Belgian policeman working in England. When solving all kinds of cases of murder, disappearance or theft, he does not rely on chance, but on careful observation, logic and his famous “little gray cells”. He is often assisted in his investigations by Captain Arthur Hastings, Inspector James Japp from Scotland Yard and secretary Felicity Lemon.
Each episode brings a separate story, in which there is no shortage of tension, well-thought-out plot, secrets or unexpected revelations. It is the combination of intelligent investigation, the psychology of the characters and the atmosphere of a classic detective story that has ensured Poirot’s cases an exceptional longevity.
The first stories with Hercule Poirot were created more than a century ago, but they still find new generations of readers and television viewers. Agatha Christie’s works are among the most popular detective stories of all time, and Poirot remains one of the most famous characters in the world of crime fiction.
Hercule Poirot starts on Prima KRIMI SK on July 7. Viewers will be able to watch it every weekday at 20:15.
