On June 15, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon received the Chairman of the Council of the Qatar Entrepreneurs Association and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Faisal Holding group of companies, Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani.
How the presidential press service reports Tajikistan, during the meeting the parties discussed the prospects for expanding trade, economic and investment cooperation between Tajikistan, the Qatar Entrepreneurs Association and the Faisal Holding group of companies.
Particular attention was paid to attracting investment for the implementation of large infrastructure and production projects in priority sectors of the republic’s economy.
Issues of developing cooperation in the fields of industry, agriculture, transport, hydropower, financial and banking, education, healthcare, tourism and modern infrastructure were also discussed.
In recent years, Qatar has already participated in the implementation of a number of large projects in Tajikistan. Among them – construction of the Central Cathedral Mosque Dushanbe.
In 2025, the Qatar Fund for Development signed preferential loan agreement for 182 million Qatari rials (about $50 million) to support the Rogun hydroelectric power station project.
Previously, the parties also discussed new investment and charitable projects, including the Rogun hydroelectric power station, the airport in Dangara, the creation of a joint airline, the purchase of aircraft, the construction of an oncology center and an ambulance facility. However, some of these initiatives are still at the level of plans and agreements.
