A woman got off a motorcycle, walked towards an extra-urban bus parked in San Martin, Chinautlaand shot repeatedly at the driver. The attack, which occurred on Tuesday, June 16, during the morning, was recorded by a security camera in the sector.
After the shots were fired, the woman threw a cell phone into the bus and returned to the motorcycle, where another person was waiting for her. Both fled the scene, while a motorcyclist and his companion fell to the pavement when they heard the explosions and saw the attacker running with the weapon in her hand.
During the program Direct Impactof Guatevision, experts analyzed the armed attack against an extra-urban bus driver in San Martin, Chinautlaand pointed out that the case reflects how the crimes of hitman and extortion have evolved in Guatemala, even with the participation of women, adolescents and attacks that are also beginning to occur on roads.
Attack against pilot is recorded
According to preliminary information, the bus driver was injured and was taken to the San Juan de Dios General Hospital, where he underwent surgery and remains in critical condition. The authorities must clarify whether the attack is related to extortions against carriers.
The images also show that other vehicles try to avoid the scene while the woman runs back towards the motorcycle. The motorcyclist who fell along with his passenger was not seriously injured.

Experts warn of evolution of hitmen
During the analysis in Direct Impactexperts pointed out that the case shows changes in the way criminal structures operate.

The specialists added that “These types of activities have been evolving“and that the structures take advantage of profiles that generate less suspicion. They also indicated that the participation of women in these events may be linked to economic conditions or romantic relationships with gang members.
Extortion, one of the most recurring crimes
The experts stated that the extortion is “one of the most recurring crimes in Guatemala” and one of those that directly hits the population the most, especially bus drivers, small businesses and companies.
They also warned that threats are no longer limited to urban or extra-urban transportation. “Now even on the roads they have already started with trailers“, they noted, warning that the modality could be extended to delivery trucks and other sectors that frequently circulate on routes in the country.
