Leoni invests 640 MDH in a new factory in Bouskoura – Today Morocco

A project that will allow the creation of 4,000 direct jobs

Wiring : Leoni, a global provider of energy and data management solutions for the automotive sector, has just launched work on its new industrial unit in Bouskoura. This strategic investment will enable the creation of nearly 4,000 direct and indirect jobs and will support the development of the Group’s activities serving the world’s leading automobile manufacturers.

Among the top five global players in automotive wiring systems, Leoni Wiring Systems is present through 40 industrial units spread across 15 countries. Present in Morocco since 1971, Leoni today employs nearly 20,000 employees spread across 11 production units located in Bouskoura, Berrechid, Bouznika, Agadir and Casablanca. With this new site, the Group will increase the number of its industrial units in the Kingdom to 12, thus consolidating its position among the main players in the national automotive industry.

“The launch of this new industrial unit is fully in line with the Kingdom’s strategy aimed at strengthening the rate of local integration and consolidating its positioning within global value chains. The dynamics experienced by our automotive industry, today among the most competitive in the world, continue to attract investments from international leaders in the sector. Leoni’s choice to set up a 12th factory in Morocco perfectly illustrates this growth and testifies to the renewed confidence of world automotive leaders in Morocco, in its industrial vision and in the Kingdom’s capacity to sustainably support the growth and transformations of the global automobile industry,” declared Ryad Mezzour, Minister of Industry and Trade.
This project is a continuation of the investment agreement concluded in 2023 between Leoni and the government, relating to an industrial development program of more than 932 million dirhams intended to support the Group’s growth and sustainably strengthen its presence in the Kingdom.

This dynamic has already materialized with the inauguration, in January 2025, of a new production site in Agadir, the first industrial installation in the automotive sector in the region.
Representing an investment of 230 million dirhams, this latest generation site, with 19,000 m² of production space, will ultimately enable the creation of more than 3,000 direct jobs.
This investment is part of the remarkable dynamic experienced by the Moroccan automotive industry, today the Kingdom’s leading export sector and one of the most efficient and competitive industrial ecosystems in the world. Thanks to the quality of its infrastructure, its qualified human capital and the competitiveness of its industrial environment, Morocco has established itself as a reference platform for the main international automobile manufacturers and equipment suppliers.

Leoni’s decision to continue its development in the Kingdom illustrates the confidence of world leaders in the sector in Morocco’s assets and in its ability to support the transformations of the global automobile industry. Developed over nearly 35,000 m², this industrial site, which required an investment of 640 million dirhams, was designed according to the Group’s most advanced standards in terms of industrial performance, digitalization and operational excellence.

It will integrate new generation production capacities as well as a training center and an Innovation and Research and Development Center dedicated to automotive wiring technologies. This platform will play a key role in the evolution of Leoni’s industrial network in Morocco by 2027, by strengthening its operational flexibility and its ability to support the needs of its international customers.
