
The Corporate Supraprovincial Prosecutor’s Office Specialized in Human Rights (Second Office) accused PNP general Víctor Zanabria and requested eight years of effective prison against him for the crimes of serious injuries and minor injuries allegedly committed during the citizen mobilizations of December 12, 2022.

According to the tax investigation, Renato Murillo He suffered a tear gas bomb to the head during the protests, which left him in a coma for twelve days. Meanwhile, Benedicto Huaccachi He was injured after being hit by a similar projectile at the height of the pelvis.
Due to these events, the prosecution also accused the PNP lieutenant Luis Bazán as the alleged direct author of the serious injuries against Murillo and asked for seven years of effective prison against him. In addition, he requested six years in prison for Major Luis Avila and the Commander Jorge Celadita.
In the case of the minor injuries attributed to Benedicto Huaccachi, the Public Ministry required three years in prison for the Third PNP non-commissioned officer Dino Tarrillo. Likewise, under the figure of commission by omission, he requested two years in prison for the First Class Petty Officer Eder Tasayco and the Major PNP José Solari. For this group of troops, a disqualification of three years and eight months was also requested.
Regarding Zanabria and Chang, the prosecution also requested the payment of civil compensation of S/6,000 for each of the accused, as well as compensation of S/30,000 in charge of the responsible civil third party.
The case is currently in the intermediate stage, corresponding to the prosecution control, so the continuation of this procedural phase is expected in the Judiciary with a view to an eventual oral trial.
