NON-GOVERNMENT organisation Buk bilong Pikinini is celebrating 10 years of impact with one of its platinum sponsors, the Sir Brian Bell Foundation.
In a statement, the NGO has praised the “vital” role the Sir Brian Bell Foundation has played in transforming the lives of thousands of children across Papua New Guinea through education and literacy.
Since the beginning of this partnership in 2018, the foundation’s support has represented several million kina in contributions.
The foundation’s commitment has helped sustain and strengthen seven Buk Bilong Pikinini Library Learning Centres at a time when some were at risk of closure due to funding challenges,” the statement said.
The statement said: “Their support has ensured that children continued to access quality early childhood education, books, and safe, nurturing learning environments.
“Over the years, this partnership has extended beyond Buk Bilong Pikinini’s library learning centres to include support for the book publishing programme.”
The book publishing programme includes sponsoring the printing and shipping of the “When I Grow Up” reader series, as well as supporting inclusive education training and community-focused programmes that continue to improve learning outcomes for children across the country.
“As the Sir Brian Bell Foundation celebrates its 10th anniversary, we acknowledge its outstanding contribution to education and community development in PNG.
“Through its support of Buk bilong Pikinini and many other organisations, continue to make a lasting national impact.
Buk bilong Pikinini founder Anne-Sophie Herman said: “A great big congratulation on behalf of the Buk bilong Pikinini board of directors, teachers, students, and families on your 10th anniversary milestone.
“We are fortunate to have an organisation such as the Sir Brian Bell Foundation, which supports so many NGOs, initiatives, and vital programmes across the country in both health and education.
“A special thank you to CEO Bronwyn Wright, who is also the chair of Buk bilong Pikinini, for your leadership and holistic support for our team, teachers, and students.
