The scientific and technological development priorities of Russia and Turkmenistan largely coincide, creating a solid foundation for cooperation between scientists from the two countries. This was stated by Vice President of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS), Academician Viktor Rudenko, at the international conference “Science, Technology, and Innovative Technologies in the Era of the Renaissance of a New Era of a Powerful State” in Ashgabat.
“A comparison and comparative analysis of the scientific and technological development priorities of Russia and Turkmenistan demonstrates a significant overlap in these priorities, which creates the basis for cooperation between scientists from both countries,” the newspaper Neutral Turkmenistan quotes the academician as saying.
According to Rudenko, bilateral cooperation can cover virtually all key areas of scientific and technological development and should be aimed at achieving breakthrough results, including those of an applied nature. The academician noted that recently, cooperation between the two countries has shifted its focus to applied science. He cited the potential of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan (AST) as the institutional support for this work, emphasizing that in 2024, the AST Technology Center received the status of an International Science and Technology Park.
Speaking about the global context, Rudenko characterized what is happening in the world as another scientific and technological revolution, forming a new technological paradigm with an emphasis on human capital – education, culture, health, and the well-being of citizens. According to him, this process is inextricably linked with the development of nano- and biotechnology, artificial intelligence, big data, digitalization, and green energy. “Given these trends, the sixth technological economic paradigm is emerging globally,” the academic emphasized.
The forum was held in a hybrid format at the Oguz han University of Engineering and Technology. It was organized by the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan. The event was attended by representatives of the scientific community from Russia, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Malaysia, Italy, Türkiye, Bulgaria, the Republic of Korea, Pakistan, and other countries. The conference was timed to coincide with Science Day of Turkmenistan, celebrated on June 12.
