Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi announced that the official start of the memorandum of understanding with the United States will be next Friday, considering that “declaring an end to the war is the most important issue of the first stage.”
During a meeting with foreign diplomats today (Tuesday), Araqchi suggested that a new round of negotiations between Iran and the United States to reach a final agreement would begin on Friday.
He added that the new round of negotiations between America and Iran will begin in Switzerland, and we will discuss the nuclear file in the final stage of the negotiations.
The Iranian Foreign Minister warned that “any Israeli attack on Lebanon or occupation of Lebanese lands will be considered a violation of the agreement with America.”
He said: “From our point of view, the two parties to this memorandum are the United States and Israel on the one hand, and Iran and Hezbollah on the other hand.” He added, “This is perhaps the most important issue in the memorandum, which is to declare an immediate and permanent end to the war on all fronts, including Lebanon.”
While it is still unclear what is included in the interim agreement, which has not yet been fully published, US President Donald Trump announced that Iran has agreed to never possess a nuclear weapon, in his latest statements regarding the understandings reached between Washington and Tehran.
He said in a post on the “Truth Social” platform, on Monday evening, that Tehran has clearly committed itself not to seek to possess nuclear weapons, considering that this pledge represents one of the most prominent outcomes of the agreement, the details of which are being finalized in the coming weeks.
Trump added that with the signing, the Strait of Hormuz, which is a vital waterway for Gulf energy exports, will be reopened, and the naval blockade imposed by the United States on Iran will be lifted.
Trump’s statements come at a time when the United States and Iran are preparing to launch a round of technical negotiations aimed at establishing implementation and oversight mechanisms for the agreement.
Vice President J.D. Vance said on Monday evening that the United States was waiting for Iran not to impose duties on shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, but he made clear that this issue would be discussed within the framework of the peace agreement.
The agreement is expected to be signed in Switzerland on Friday, followed by more “technical” talks on a long-term agreement.
