Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski stated that there is significant interest among Turkish companies in investing in Macedonia, after participating in the Macedonia-Turkey business forum in Istanbul, where the government and business delegation presented the potential of the Macedonian economy to the Turkish business community, reported MIA.
Mickoski indicated that the purpose of the visit is to create direct connections between Macedonian and Turkish companies and to open new opportunities for cooperation and investments.
– I am present here together with a governmental and business delegation. We are continuing the tradition of organizing B2B-events and B2B-meetings, that is, what we started in Hungary and what we continued in Austria, then with the Croatian business community at the bilateral meeting in Ohrid, we are now continuing here in Istanbul. Our goal is for our Macedonian economy and our businesses to connect with the businesses here in Istanbul, Turkey – said Mickoski.
He emphasized that the interest of Turkish investors is real and that the Government will continue to actively promote the conditions offered by the country.
– There is a really great interest among Turkish businessmen for investments in Macedonia, and what we will do in these two days in Istanbul is to present the opportunities of the Macedonian economy and all the opportunities and support that we as the Government provide for attracting foreign direct investments – said the Prime Minister.
He expressed expectation that the stay in Turkey will result in successful meetings and positive messages for the future economic cooperation between the two countries.
In his address at the forum, Mickoski called on Turkish companies to become part of, as he stated, the development story of Macedonia.
– Macedonia and Turkey nurture traditionally friendly relations built on trust, respect and strong ties between peoples, and precisely those relations represent a solid basis for deepening economic cooperation and new investments – he emphasized.
The Prime Minister emphasized that Macedonia is positioned as a stable and competitive business destination, with a strategic geographical position, a favorable investment climate, modern industrial zones and access to regional and European markets.
– By investing in Macedonia, Turkish companies get the opportunity to become part of European supply chains and expand their presence in wider markets – Mickoski pointed out.
The focus of the forum was the strengthening of economic cooperation, the increase of trade and the opening of new investment opportunities. The Map for investing in North Macedonia was also presented to the attendees, which offers a detailed overview of investment potentials, development zones and investment opportunities in the country.
The forum was also addressed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Timcho Mutsunski, the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Government and Minister of European Affairs Bekim Sali, as well as the Turkish Minister of Trade Omer Bolat, who emphasized the need for further deepening of economic ties between Macedonia and Turkey.
Within the panel discussions dedicated to trade, industry, energy, infrastructure and logistics, the importance of regional connectivity and the role of free economic zones in attracting new investments were emphasized. The participants assessed that such meetings open up additional opportunities for cooperation in several areas of mutual interest.
The forum was organized within the framework of the “Investment Map Promotion” project, as part of the Program to support the implementation of the National Development Strategy, led by the Government and the General Secretariat, and implemented in cooperation with the UNDP.
