Hosted by the French President Emmanuel Macron Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni In the southeastern city of Antibes France On June 25, according to what the Elysee announced today, Friday.
This will be the first official bilateral summit between Macron and Meloni since the right-wing prime minister came to power in Rome in 2022. It is also the first summit between the two countries since the signing of the bilateral “Kirinale Treaty” in 2021.
The French presidency stressed that “this summit will provide an opportunity to strengthen French-Italian cooperation in several strategic sectors, especially defense, space and…Energy And infrastructure.”

Nine ministers from each side will attend the summit, and a French-Italian business forum will be held on its sidelines, according to the Elysee, which explained that the two officials “will exchange views on the most important European and international issues, and will discuss ways to strengthen ties between French and Italian civil societies, especially through youth and culture.”
This summit was scheduled for April, but was postponed until after the G7 summit, which will be held in the French city of Evian this month.
Diplomatic sources reported at the time that Meloni requested to postpone the meeting to allow more time for preparation. But the decision to postpone, which was taken in February, came amid a debate between Meloni and Macron following the killing of a French far-right activist.
Meloni believed that the killing of the activist at the hands of left-wing extremists “in a climate of ideological hatred spreading in several countries is a wound to all of Europe.” Macron responded by calling on her to stop “commenting on what is happening in other countries.”
The Prime Minister later considered that Macron had misunderstood her statements.
Macron and Meloni held a lengthy meeting in Rome in June 2025, seeking to calm the tensions that increased between them following the return of Donald Trump to the US presidency at the beginning of the same year.
