The Association of Secondary Education Teachers (Ades) of Montevideo announced a series of zonal strikes for next week that will culminate with a 24 hour general strike in all the high schools of the capital.
The measure was communicated this Thursday by the union, which calls for greater allocation of resources for public education in the framework of the budget discussion.
What will the strikes be like?
According to the schedule released by Ades, The measures will begin next Monday, June 15 with a strike in the high schools located in the western area of Montevideo and Prado.

Ades Montevideo maintains that the measures are part of the campaign for a larger budget for public education. Among its main demands is the allocation of “6+1% of GDP for education”a historical slogan promoted by education unions.
