Former communications director of Tamás Sulyok, the one who used to call Telex junk Georgina Szántó claimed in a Facebook post in May that two pilots who regularly flew the army plane carrying the presidential delegation reported to her about security problems. He admitted that on one occasion it really happened that there were fewer flight attendants on the Airbus plane than specified. On Airbus airplanes of the national defense, the requirement is that there is one flight attendant for every 50 passengers, but at least three are on duty, and for VIP transport four, but once only two flight attendants were employed.
Another claim by Georgina Szántó was that Sulyok only wants to fly with the two pilots who reported the alleged safety problems. Lieutenant General Ferenc Kajári confirmed to Hvg.hu that there was indeed such a request from the Sándor Palace.
“A request was indeed received from the Sándor Palace that the president basically wants to fly with two named pilots – however, the Army General Staff was not informed about the background of this request. During the preparation of the trips, the Hungarian Army tried to comply with the request when it could be resolved,” he said.
The Sándor Palace only stated that “although the President of the Republic is also the Commander-in-Chief of the Hungarian Armed Forces, due to his constitutional status, he has neither management nor service authority over the Hungarian Armed Forces.”
