Oncology, dialysis, minor interventions on the eyes and skin as well as interventions in the area of urology and the peritoneum: In the future, all of this should be possible in outpatient structures outside of hospitals. Health Minister Martine Deprez (CSV) presented corresponding plans at a press conference on Wednesday morning. “It is the core of the new legal framework,” Deprez explains her plans to the assembled press representatives. In order to prevent private sector interests, the right of initiative for such structures remains reserved for medical associations and – after the relevant law has been passed – medical societies. Medical imaging will not be possible in the “structures ambulatoires de soins”. “That was not a priority in the discussions,” explains Deprez. This will therefore only be possible in hospitals and hospital antennas.
Health Minister Martine Deprez insisted on Wednesday that the ongoing outpatient transition would not result in privatization of the health sector. Controls based on the necessary ministerial approval, at the “Collége médical” and as part of the agreement with the national health insurance company (CNS) are intended to prevent this.
