According to Jam Jam Online, quoted by Al Jazeera, the British Maritime Trade Organization announced that it has received a report of a marine accident 20 nautical miles northeast of Oman’s Sohar port.
According to this report, a ship reported an accident in its engine room, as a result of which, one crew member was injured and two others were missing.
The British Maritime Trade Organization also announced that the local authorities reported a fire in the engine room of this ship. So far, no further details about the cause of the accident, the identity of the crew or the status of the rescue operation have been released.
This is the second marine incident reported in the region today. A few hours ago, the British Maritime Trade Organization announced the occurrence of an accident 88 nautical miles southwest of Belhaf, Yemen.
In that incident, the crew of a cargo ship announced that a boat carrying six armed people approached their ship and then there was an exchange of fire between the two sides.
