The former national team goalkeeper and current Al Hamriya club, Majed Nasser, revealed the possibility of returning again to play in the professional league next season, in light of the distinguished levels he is performing with his team in the first division league.
Majed Nasser (42 years old) confirmed to “Emirates Today” that the idea of returning to the professional league is still on the table, but he did not specify it clearly. He said: “There is an existing offer, and I will reconsider my calculations during the current stage after many years I spent in the stadiums, and reaching a relatively advanced age stage, but I have a desire to repay the debt to two clubs before ending my career.”
The former international goalkeeper pointed out that the two clubs are Al-Wasl and Shabab Al-Ahly, which he represented during his career in the professional league, stressing that the idea of returning to one of them is still possible if the opportunity arises, and in proportion to his ability to give for additional seasons.
Regarding his season with Al Hamriya, Majed Nasser said that achieving 12 clean sheets is an important achievement on a personal level, despite the team’s failure to achieve the goal of ascending to the professional league.
He added: “I aspired to lead Al Hamriyah to the professional league, but the team faltered at the beginning of the season and lost important points before the performance gradually improved, especially in the last eight matches during which we did not suffer any losses.”
He expressed his hope that Al-Hamriyah would succeed in reaching the professional league in the future, praising the administrative and technical support within the club, and appreciating the efforts of the players and the technical and administrative staff.
He also praised the United team’s rise to the professional league, describing it as a “new flavor” for the competition, due to the technical and competitive addition it provides.
Speaking about the First Division League, Majed Nasser stressed that the technical level of the competition has developed greatly compared to the period during which he began his career with Fujairah, pointing to the increase in the number of professional players and their clear influence on the level of competition, while expressing his hope that national players will be given a greater role during the next stage.
