The representatives of the party emphasize that this is a widely discussed decision, adopted in order not only to contribute more actively to state management, but also to return peace and professionalism to politics.
“In politics, it is easiest to evaluate decisions from the outside. It is much more difficult to take part in making them yourself and take responsibility for the future of the state. The Democratic Board unanimously chose this path. This confirms once again that there is no lack of competence, professionalism and leadership in our party. We have people who are ready to take responsibility, make difficult decisions and always put the state’s interest above political convenience,” says Virginijus Sinkevičius.
According to V. Sinkevičius, a clear position emerged both during yesterday’s communication with the heads of the party’s departments and at today’s board meeting: the most important thing for the democrats is not the possible positions, but the specific tasks that could be implemented during the remaining two years of the term. Among the main priorities, the party names the improvement of the demographic situation, the promotion of economic growth, the strengthening of regions and ensuring the security of the state.
The negotiating group of the Democrats in the meetings with the Social Democrats regarding the composition of the newly formed ruling coalition will consist of the party’s interim chairman Virginijus Sinkevičius, party vice-chairmen Domas Griškevičius, Linas Kukuraitis, Jekaterina Rojaka, Lukas Savickas and Tomas Tomilinas.
