Free National Movement (FNM) Garden Hills candidate Rick Fox, who has a total net worth of $469 million, tops the list of millionaires seeking office in the next general election, according to financial disclosures submitted to the Parliamentary Registration Department.
Fox, a NBA champion with the Los Angeles Lakers and businessman, has $469,876,479.25 in assets, an annual income of $4,816,689.16 and liabilities totaling $124,388.83.
He has $432 million in securities investments, $14.5 million in his accounts receivable and $11 million in real estate.
The disclosures from the Parliamentary Registration Department, published in today’s Nassau Guardian, show that 54 millionaires nominated to run in the next election last Thursday. The election is set for May 12.
Sebas Bastian, the Island Luck co-founder and entrepreneur, has a total net worth of $28.9 million, according to the financial disclosures.
Bastian is the Progressive Liberal Party’s (PLP) candidate for Fort Charlotte.
His total assets are worth $29,120,545, he has an annual income of $930,000 and his total liabilities are $175,000.
The bulk of his assets include $17.3 million in real estate, $4.9 million in securities and $3.9 million in “other personal property”.
Bastian also disclosed that he is a “discretionary beneficiary” to a number of Bahamian trusts, which have an estimated “aggregate value of $160 million”.
“These trusts were established more than five years ago and therefore pre-date my entry into public life,” he said.
“They are administered by a fully licensed and independent professional trust company in The Bahamas.
“These trusts hold a substantial portion of my family’s assets and business interest. However, as I am only a discretionary beneficiary, I do not have any legal ownership, control, or entitlement to the assets within the trusts.”
Bastian said he was advised that the assets are legally owned by the trustee and not by any individual beneficiary.
“Accordingly, it would be improper and inaccurate for me to declare such assets as my personal assets in my statutory filings,” he said.
Deputy Prime Minister Chester Cooper, the MP for the Exumas and Ragged Island, has a net worth of $28 million. He has an annual income of $324,000, total liabilities of $560,000 and total assets of $28.6 million.
The bulk of his assets are in investments, $13.5 million, and real estate, $10.5 million.
Other wealthy candidates include Dr. Hubert Minnis, the former FNM leader and prime minister, who is now running in Killarney as an independent. He disclosed that his total net worth is $19 million. In 2021, Minnis declared a net worth of $14.8 million.
Dr. Veronica McIver, the Coalition of Independent’s candidate for Killarney, has a net worth of $12 million.
The COI’s leader, Lincoln Bain, has a net worth of $1.5 million. He has over $100,000 in his bank accounts, $500,000 in securities, and $550,000 in real estate.
He said he has an annual income of $360,000 and liabilities totaling $85,000.
Leslia Miller Brice, the PLP MP for SeaBreeze, has seen her net worth skyrocket since she’s been in public life.
In 2021, she declared a net worth of $3.1 million.
Her latest declaration, filed on Thursday, shows a net worth of $8.7 million.
It shows that she has over $200,000 in her bank accounts, $2 million in securities and over $5 million in real estate. She listed no liabilities and said her annual income is $3,464.
Carmichael MP Keith Bell saw his net worth shoot up too.
In 2021, his net worth was $1.08 million. His latest declaration shows a net worth of $3.9 million.
He has $416,000 in his savings account, and $2.4 million in real estate. His annual income is $99,000 and his total liabilities are $290,000.
FNM Leader Michael Pintard, who will seek re-election in Marco City, has a net worth of $3.9 million, up from the $2.9 million he declared in 2021.
Pintard’s assets total $4 million. He has an annual income of $177,500 and total liabilities of $42,000. His assets include $1.1 million in securities; $923,000 on his savings account; and $1.5 million in real estate.
Mouth Moriah MP McKell Bonaby, the executive chairman of the Bahamas Beaches and Parks Authority, saw his net worth jump since his first nomination in 2021.
He declared his net worth as $1.5 million.
According to his declaration, Bonaby has $704,059 in his savings account, $126,018 in his accounts receivable; $641,812 in his real estate; another $100,000 in real estate; a $71,000 car; and $303,000 in other personal property.
His total assets are worth $1.9 million. He has an annual salary of $213,000 and total liabilities of $441,510.
In 2021, Bonaby’s net worth was $841,403. His total assets was $1.2 million, with $200,000 in annual income and $422,597 in liabilities.
Prime Minister Philip Brave Davis declared a net worth of $4.5 million.
Andrew “Blue” Johnson, the independent candidate running in Freetown, has a net worth of $6.6 million.
Reneika Knowles, the PLP’s candidate for Long Island, has a net worth of $5.3 million.
Knowles, a realtor, has $5.7 million in assets, an annual income of $410,000 — including real estate income of $360,000 — and liabilities totaling $370,000.
Her opponent, the FNM’s Dr. Andre Rollins, has a net worth of $5.1 million.
Central and South Eleuthera MP Clay Sweeting has a net worth of $4.5 million, up from the $1.5 million he declared in 2021.
Elizabeth MP JoBeth Coleby Davis’ net worth increased as well. In 2021, her net worth was $520,000. In 2026, her net worth is $902,000.
Carlton Bowleg, the FNM’s candidate for Bimini and the Berry Islands, said he has a net worth of $1 million.
Tall Pines MP Dr. Michael Darville, the minister of health, has a total net worth of $4.7 million.
Dr. Duane Sands, the FNM’s candidate for Bamboo Town, has a net worth of $8.1 million.
Leonardo Lightbourne, the PLP’s candidate for North Andros, has a net worth of $3 million, up from the $1.5 million he declared in 2021.
North Abaco MP Kirk Cornish has a net worth of $819,355.77. In 2021, Cornish said his net worth was $144,392.14.
At the time, in 2021, Cornish said he had $13,000 in his bank accounts, a $27,000 life insurance policy and property worth $130,000. He had an annual salary of $42,000 and total liabilities of $27,724.15.
In his latest declaration, filed last Thursday, Cornish said he now has $320,110.43 in his bank account. He has a $100,000 life insurance policy and $400,000 in real estate. Cornish said he makes $112,050.60 a year and has $754.66 in liabilities.
