MIRI (June 8): A clean water supply project costing RM8,993,906 for Tinjar villages is progressing ahead of schedule.
Telang Usan assemblyman Datuk Dennis Ngau said the project, which began on April 15 last year, has reached 33.3 per cent completion and is expected to end the community’s reliance on inconsistent water sources from gravity-fed systems.
“This long-awaited project is expected to be completed by October this year and will benefit about 2,000 residents, not only from Long Loyang but also from the nearby village of Long Batan,” he said during a site visit on Saturday.
Dennis said the project is being implemented under the Highland Development Agency (HDA).
According to him, HDA is carrying out similar clean water supply projects in several other villages within the Telang Usan constituency, including Long Pillah, Long Pelutan, Long Bemang, and Long Kevok.
“The provision of clean water supply is among the state government’s key priorities in its effort to improve the standard of living of the people, particularly those in rural and interior areas.
“The implementation of these projects reflects the state government’s continued commitment to strengthening basic infrastructure and ensuring that more residents in the interior have access to quality clean water,” he added.
