Doha – Qena:
Assem Madibo, the Qatari national team player, expressed his aspiration to appear honorably and delight the fans during the upcoming participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup finals, which will be held in the United States of America, Canada and Mexico during the period from June 11 to next July 19.
The Qatari national team seeks to present its best levels when it participates in the World Cup for the second time in its history, as it is in Group Two alongside Canada, Switzerland, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Madbou said, in a video interview broadcast by the Qatar Football Association today, that his career with the national team was full of challenges and that he was satisfied with the level he presented over the past years after participating in many tournaments such as the Asian Cup in its last two editions and the rest of the other competitions.
The player explained that the cumulative experiences of many of the team’s players who are currently on the roster and who have previously participated in continental and international tournaments such as the Asian Cup, which the team won in the last two editions of 2019 and 2023, can contribute to pushing the players to give their best, after they have the ability to deal with pressure.
He pointed out that the mission in the World Cup will not be easy because the nature of the matches in these major tournaments requires great focus and dealing with the minute details represented by pressures, pointing out that the players have now enough experience to adapt to a tournament the size of the World Cup.
He added in this context, “Our other mission as experienced players is to help the elements participating for the first time overcome the barrier of dealing with these major confrontations and enter the tournament atmosphere from an early stage, so that the main goal remains to be a homogeneous group of young players and experienced elements.”
He pointed out that the presence of fans in the stands represents a great motivation for the players, which contributes to appearing in the best possible way.
Madbo concluded by stressing that the goal for them as players is to make the Qatari fans happy, to appear honorably in the second participation of Al-Adam in the World Cup finals, and to reflect the development that Qatari football has reached over the past years.
It should be noted that the Qatari national team is preparing to play its first match in the 2026 World Cup, when it faces its Swiss counterpart on June 13 in San Francisco, USA, then moves to Vancouver to meet its Canadian counterpart on the 18th of the same month, concluding its matches by facing Bosnia and Herzegovina in Seattle, USA on the 24th of the same month.
