Honduran journalism is once again in mourning after confirming the death of Marco Tulio Rodas Matamoros, who lost his life this Saturday after being swept away by an ocean current while enjoying El Zonte beach, in La Libertad Costa, El Salvador.
The incident occurred when three people were surprised by a strong current in deep waters, a situation that mobilized the Civil Protection Lifeguard Unit of El Salvador, which carried out rescue work in the area.
According to the report from the Salvadoran authorities, two of those affected were rescued alive. It is about Leni Rosales27 years old, and Abel Savellon30, both of Honduran nationality.
However, Marco Tulio Rodas Matamoros28 years old, also Honduran, was pulled from the water in critical condition and despite cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) maneuvers and the use of an automatic external defibrillator, emergency teams were unable to save his life.
Relief authorities reported that intense pre-hospital care efforts were carried out in an attempt to revive him, but his death was finally confirmed at the scene.
The case has generated consternation in the Honduran journalistic community and among his relatives, while more information is awaited on the repatriation of the body.
