What does Vučić mean when he announces his political responsibility for the “Tivat case”? – Politics

When Vučić said that he would bear the political responsibility for the “Tivat case”, he did not really mean it, because it would mean that he would take action himself.

And he won’t, because he needs to publicly say who from his entourage ordered the plane and filled it with suspicious people and sent them on their way to create the atmosphere of Ćaciland. However, among his supporters, let alone among neutral people, even this scandal will have a direct impact on voter orientation, say Danas interlocutors, commenting on the statement of the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, that he will bear political responsibility for the “Tivat case”.

After the charter flight from Belgrade was stopped because of persons connected to crime on the plane, Vučić said that he had meetings all day and that the last to know. He assessed that the decision to send a plane with 87 guys to hang banners supporting him in Tivat was a very bad political decision that created a big problem for him.

He pointed out that it was done by someone from his environment and that in the future discipline must be at a much higher level.

    – As for everything else, I am the one who will pay the political price, neither guilty nor obligated – Vučić pointed out several times.

During the years in power, Vučić built the image of a lightning rod for his associates and citizens, with the fact that that image very easily turned into the image of his great victim.

It was also valid for teflon politicians, so the question arises whether he seriously expects to pay a political price and whether it will happen despite his decision.

Political scientist Zoran Lutovac says for Danas that Vučić is like Zelig, the hero of Woody Allen from the film of the same name.

    – Namely, Zelig identifies with the interlocutor to such an extent that he begins to physically resemble him. When he is in the company of officials from the EU, there is no bigger European, in Moscow he is a bigger Russophile than Putin himself, in China he begins to resemble Xi physically after a half-hug, and in the USA he behaves naturally because he thinks he is smart and pragmatic like Trump, so that will open all the doors for him – he explains.

And he adds that he made the statement about the political price he will pay “neither guilty nor obligated” in Tivat because of the Montenegrin journalists, because it was a desirable answer for that environment.

    – And I will remind you, he left Belgrade with the message that he was going to “slam everything in their faces”. I’m not my mother, he pissed in their face, someone of mine wanted to make me feel good. Well, that’s how someone organized a trip for 87 people of security interest who would carry the banner “Serbia wins” – recalls Lutovac.

And he notes that Vučić, instead of showing strength, showed indolence, and the banner had the opposite effect as if it had been hung at a football match against Cape Verde or Mexico.

    – So, when he said that he would bear political responsibility, he didn’t really mean it, because that would mean that he himself would do something about it, and he won’t. It won’t happen on the international level either, except that what little reputation he has left has completely crumbled. Unfortunately, it will be another move of his that lowers the reputation of the citizens of Serbia who allow themselves to have such a man as their president – Lutovac points out.

While the founder of the People’s Freedom Movement, Miroslav Parović, suggests to Vučić how he should not pay because of the Tivat case.

What does Vučić mean when he announces his political responsibility for "Tivat case"? 2
    photo FoNet/TV FoNet

    – Vučić knows that the entire action in Tivat was led by the French security service because they were securing the arrival of Macron and then a plane with 87 men flew into their radar, some of whom had a serious criminal record – he states.

According to him, that’s why the reaction was so sudden and fast, and that’s why even Informer had to cancel one of the shows in which Vučićević was supposed to spew fire at Montenegrins and all others who hate Serbia, because it’s so wonderful for us, so they’re jealous.

    – And here I am giving a proposal to Vučić how he should not pay for the Tivat case, let him publicly say who from his circle ordered the plane and filled it with suspicious persons and then sent them on their way to create the atmosphere of Ćaciland, which he was so attached to. That and the entire organization should be tried for endangering national security. I personally have doubts about a couple of names: Andrej V., Malović B., Glišić D., Vučević M. – says Parović.

For Bojan Pajtić, a professor at the University of Novi Sad, there is no doubt that the political price of Vučić’s actions will be paid, because, as he says, the “excursion to Tivat” is one of the most shameful episodes in recent Serbian history.

    – In one day, unbreakable connections with thugs and criminals (of which there were a handful on the plane), the reckless abuse of public resources, used for the flight and stay of “loyalists” in Montenegro, and the absence of any concern for the state were fully exposed. Aleksandar Vučić didn’t just put himself on the line, but the institution of the President and Serbia. Even among his supporters, let alone among neutral people, the scandal will have a direct impact on their voter orientation – concludes Pajtić.
