Before the session at the anti-corruption court, in a short conversation with Aravot.am, the leader of the “Strong Armenia” party, businessman and philanthropist Samvel Karapetyan spoke in a few words about another area in which he has invested quite a lot in Armenia, but all of that was kind of left out of attention during this campaign. We are talking about the development of sports.
“Our “Ararat-Armenia” football club won the title of champion of Armenia and will defend the sports honor of our country in the Champions League. We attach importance to the revival of Armenian football. And we will do everything so that both our national team and club teams have serious success in European championships. It is very important now.
We are also initiating programs to develop tennis in Armenia, both in Yerevan and in the regions,” said Mr. Karapetyan.
When we reminded that he had assumed the position of the president of the Armenian Wrestling Federation in difficult days for wrestling, one of our main sports, he strengthened the foundations of the sport, as a result of which the sport began to experience a serious rise, to take leading positions in European and world wrestling, and we are still reaping the results of this today, Samvel Karapetyan answered. “What we have done, we have done. The wrestling federation now has a new leadership and is moving forward in its own way. And we will develop new sports in Armenia.”
