A private jet carrying four passengers touched down at Faleolo International Airport this week, misreported as an aircraft linked to actor Matt Damon.
The private jet belonged to billionaire Theodore William “Ted” Waitt, an American billionaire businessman, philanthropist and founder of the Waitt Foundation.
He and his team was welcomed by the CEO of the Samoa Airport Authority and his team into the VIP lounge.

Mr Waitt was in Samoa to sign a tripartite MOU between the Waitt Foundation and Waitt Institute, the Government of Samoa, and Conservation International.

The Waitt Foundation is a grant-making organisation that has invested over $70 million in various ocean conservation initiatives. Primarily focused on the creation of Marine Protected Areas, the Waitt Foundation is currently engaged in projects around the world.
Waitt believes that the depletion of ocean resources is one of the biggest challenges of our generation and has dedicated the bulk of his time and resources to ocean conservation.
