The code name “Odin”, the Scandinavian deity that in the Christian religion refers to Saint Nicholas of Crete, where the 37-year-old accused was arrested, was the operation carried out jointly by the EYP and the Anti-Terrorist Service.
It is noted that on Sunday morning the 37-year-old confessed that he is a member of Hamas, that had contacts with those arrested in Cyprus and how they intended to carry out a massive strike on targets of Israeli interest.
The man, who he was working legally and staying at a hotel with other workerssaid in his preliminary inquest that he had not yet built a bomb, however, he had ordered it from the Internet chemicals intended for the manufacture of explosive devices. In fact, they have been found in the house where he lived permanently in Patisia a precision scale and a glass measuring cup that were recently purchased as the packaging has not yet been removed. Some digital evidence was also found and is expected to be investigated.
It is recalled that the 37-year-old was arrested at 5 am on Saturday and after a 12-hour interrogation confessed that had received training in the manufacture of synthetic explosive devices in Malaysia. According to information from competent sources, there are its camps in Malaysia and Indonesia Hamas where people recruited by its members are trained.
It is worth noting that as the police state in its announcement, the 37-year-old was arrested a few days after the arrest of two Palestinians in Cyprus, who are accused of terrorism cases.
The 37-year-old had been under close surveillance for 15 days. According to the same information, he claims that he did not know who the target was and that he was going to receive instructions, however the authorities believe that he was preparing dynamic strike on an Israeli targetpossibly related to a cruise ship. It is noted that in the apartment that the 37-year-old had rented in Patisia the necessary bomb-making equipment was located but he still lacked the necessary raw materials.

“A 37-year-old foreigner of Palestinian origin was arrested yesterday afternoon, Saturday, June 6, 2026, in the area of Crete, following a joint operation by the Anti-Terrorist Service (D.A.E.B.) and the National Intelligence Service.
A case file was filed against him for joining as a member of the terrorist organization HAMAS, as well as receiving training and traveling for terrorist purposes.
It was preceded by the use of information by the National Intelligence Service, from which there were indications of the 37-year-old’s connection with persons who recently engaged the authorities of another European country for terrorism cases. At the same time, evidence concerning his training in the manufacture of synthetic explosives is being investigated.
In fact, the 37-year-old was working and living in an area of Crete, while, as emerged from the investigation, he had ordered explosives online. During the subsequent searches carried out in houses in Crete and Attica, the following were found and confiscated, among others:
• mobile devices,
• laptop computer,
• portable data storage devices,
• cards of banking institutions,
• laboratory-type precision analytical balance and
• laboratory magnetic stirrer with heated plate.
The arrested person with the case filed against him will be taken to the competent prosecuting authority, while the investigations continue.”
