Ulaanbaatar,
April 8, 2026 /MONTSAME/. Minister
of Education Enkh-Amgalan Luvsantseren met with representatives of the “Google
for Education” project team to exchange views on expanding digital
transformation and the use of artificial intelligence in the education sector.
The
cooperation initially began through the Education and Information Technology
Center, focusing on supporting teachers with both online and in-person
training. To date, the Gemini Academy program aimed at strengthening the
capacity of teachers and students has been introduced, while the “Medle”
content library has been available through Google Classroom. As of 2025, a
total of 2,491 teachers have participated in the Gemini Academy program, with
104 having graduated.
Through
the program, teachers have learned how to incorporate AI tools such as Gemini
and NotebookLM into their teaching practices, improving their ability to
develop lesson plans, tests, and assessment rubrics. Results indicate that
teachers’ digital skills have improved and their workload has decreased, while
students have shown increased interest in using Google tools. Teachers also
noted that these tools have had a positive impact on developing students’ STEAM
and social-emotional skills.
Looking
ahead, the program aims to expand the Gemini Academy and work toward ensuring
that every child has access to a computer. Currently, only one in 20 students
has a computer, highlighting the need for greater attention in this area.
The Minister
also emphasized the importance of developing AI in the Mongolian language to
help children improve their speaking and writing skills in their native
language. While tablets are being used for learning, they do not fully meet
students’ needs. Therefore, beyond devices, there is a need to further develop
digital infrastructure and high-quality educational content at all levels, the
Ministry of Education stated.
