The Attorney General’s Office detailed on the afternoon of this Friday, June 5, that progress is being made in the judicialization of those deprived of liberty linked to the mass escape recorded in the La Joyita Penitentiary Center.
Through a statement, the entity detailed that, to date, 166 people related to the escape that occurred this Monday, June 1, have been arrested.
According to the Attorney General’s Office, the work carried out by prosecutors before the courts of justice has allowed 18 guarantee control hearings to be held, in which 134 people have been brought before judges to answer for the crime of evasion.
More than a hundred remain detained
The Attorney General’s Office indicated that as a result of these judicial proceedings, 125 provisional arrests have been ordered.
In addition, nine people have received convictions through sentencing agreements reached with the Public Ministry.
The sentences imposed are distributed as follows:
Three sentences of 36 months in prison.
Four sentences of 42 months in prison.
A sentence of 44 months in prison.
A sentence of 47 months in prison.
Investigations continue
The entity indicated that the actions are part of the investigations carried out after the escape of prisoners from the La Joyita prison.
The authorities continue with the search, recapture and prosecution of the people who remain linked to the evasion, while the criminal proceedings progress in the corresponding courts.
