Bahamian professional basketball player Garvin Clarke Jr. and the Caja 87 basketball team were promoted from Segunda FEB to Primera FEB in the Spanish professional basketball league last weekend.
Clarke and Caja 87 earned their promotion through the promotion playoffs, which ended with a 71-56 loss to Sant Antoni.
Despite the loss, Clarke and Caja 87 were able to secure one of the promotion spots thanks to a 19-point victory (91-72) over the same team in the first leg of the promotion semifinals.
The Bahamian guard had a relatively quiet night against Sant Antoni in the second leg of the semifinals.
He finished with three points, one turnover and three fouls in 12 minutes of playing time in the loss.
He had a better game in the first leg of the series, contributing seven points and four rebounds in 16 minutes of action.
Prior to the season-ending loss against Sant Antoni, Caja 87 made some noise in the opening rounds of the Segunda FEB playoffs.
The team won four of its last five contests, starting with victories against CB Zaragoza in the first and second rounds of the 1/8 finals, before splitting games against the Spanish Basketball Academy (SBA) and Sant Antoni in the following rounds.
As for Clarke, he had a steady season in just his second stint on the professional circuit.
He averaged 10.7 points, 3.1 assists and 2.3 rebounds while shooting 40.3 percent from the field and 28 percent from three-point range in 24 games played.
His production dipped to 4.7 points, 2.3 rebounds and one assist per game while shooting 25.8 percent from the field in the postseason.
Outside of his duties overseas, Clarke has been a regular member of The Bahamas’ senior men’s national basketball team since 2021.
Most recently, he suited up for Team Bahamas during the FIBA (International Basketball Federation) Basketball World Cup 2027 Americas Qualifiers.
Throughout the first window, he averaged 10.8 points, 7.8 assists and 3.8 rebounds per game.
