Geneva (Switzerland), June 3, 2026 (SPS) – The General Union of Workers of Saguia El Hamra and Oued Eddahab is participating in the work of the annual session of the International Labor Organization (OIT), amid a wide presence of delegations from countries, unions, bodies and labor organizations across the world.
The Secretary-General of Sahrawi Workers, Mr. Nafi Ahmed Mohamed, reviewed in a press interview the importance of participation and its advocacy role on the reality of Sahrawi workers under occupation, in asylum and in the diaspora, expressing that their suffering constitutes a complex chapter in the tragedy of an entire people engaged in a bitter struggle for freedom, dignity and independence.
The Sahrawi delegation had several bilateral meetings with participating unions and representatives of countries and multipolar bodies in an opportunity to strengthen international solidarity efforts, especially union solidarity in support of the struggle of the Sahrawi people and their legitimate rights to freedom and independence.
Work files, labor affairs, international agreements, and the transformations and issues the world is witnessing today constitute major topics for the 114th session of the International Labor Organization in Geneva.
During the first days of the session, a delegation from the General Union of Sahrawi Workers will participate, a delegation headed by the Secretary-General, Mr. Nafi Ahmed Mohamed, accompanied by Ms. Metou Mahmoud Baba Att, the Union’s representative office in Europe.
The session will last until the twelfth of this month, when it will witness the organization of several general sessions, seminars, and specialized meetings, on various labor issues and workers’ concerns around the world.
The General Union of Sahrawi Workers had embarked on a European tour during which it participated in several conferences in Spain, France, Ireland and Switzerland. (SPA)
