Thousands of students in their final year of high school are preparing to present their creations at the National Arts Galawhich will take place in the Eduardo Brito National Theater.
This activity aims to showcase the talent of students developed in the arts modality.
Under the motto “Journey of Art: origin and journey of our identity”, from June 10 to 13, the Ministry of Education (Minerd) will celebrate this artistic proposal, where the graduation of these students will also take place.
During a press conference at the Minerd headquarters in Santo Domingo, the Minister of Education, Luis Miguel Camps offered the information corresponding to this initiative that the entity celebrates every year.
He indicated that a total of 18 artistic expressions will be exhibited at that Gala. From visual arts, dance, music, artisanal, oral, written production. As well as theater, jewelry and other art manifestations.
According to him minerdon this occasion the pedagogical proposal of this edition is focused on national identity and cultural dialogue between Dominican Republic and countries as France, Italy, Spain, Puerto Rico and the United States.
From these nations, artistic expressions, traditions and historical references will also be integrated that strengthen the sense of belonging and the appreciation of cultural diversity.
Around 2 thousand students will participate there, including students with some type of disability.
The director of the Modality in Arts, Gelson Navarrohighlighted that this exhibition has established itself as one of the main spaces for the projection of student talent in the pre-university educational system.
“This artistic journey highlights our roots, our cultural diversity and the creative potential of thousands of young people who today are preparing to contribute to the cultural and productive development of the Dominican Republic,” he said.
For his part, the Minister of Education, Luis Miguel De Camps, assured that through this activity the skills that young Dominicans have in the artistic world will be known.
“This is not just an artistic gala. It is a demonstration of the enormous talent that exists in every corner of the Dominican Republic and how public education can become a real platform of opportunities for our young people,” said De Camps.
He noted that this initiative is part of the vision of educational transformation promoted by President Luis Abinader and aimed at strengthening a more humane, innovative education connected to the comprehensive development of students.
“Artistic education develops creativity, critical thinking, discipline, human sensitivity and capacity for innovation; fundamental skills for the challenges of the present and the future. Betting on art is also betting on human development, coexistence and the strengthening of our national identity,” said the minister.
About the world of work
According to Minerd, through these activities, the aim is to promote the incursion of the artistic modality into employment and entrepreneurship in the country. As well as being a way to collaborate with recognized artists.
“We have had success with the graduates. On one occasion, El Torito needed a second-rate voice because it had a difficulty and a graduate from the Doctor educational center. José Francisco Peña Gómez from regional 7 did the second to El Torito,” indicated the director of the Modality in Arts, Gelson Navarro
He also pointed out that the students have gone on stage with Jackeline Estévez, Luis Miguel del Amargue, Kinito Méndez, Miriam Cruz, Milly Quezada and other singers.
He also indicated that in the last three years the students have participated in international festivals in Costa Rica, Colombia.
“This alliance that we have with the cultural industries is so that our students can integrate into the world of work. Our dance students continue their studies mostly in the specialized dance school of the Palace of Fine Arts, as well as those of visual arts and theater,” he said.
At the same time, he pointed out that some of his graduates have become teachers, with the objective of “contributing their grain of flour” to the arts modality of the schools.

The Arts Modality currently has a presence in the 18 educational regions and continues to expand as an educational policy aimed at opening more specialized training opportunities for thousands of young people in areas linked to the cultural and creative industries.
The arts exhibition will be held from June 10 to 13, 2026.
Prior to this national exhibition, students participated in an extensive process of presentations and evaluations developed in educational centers and regional stages throughout the country, where the most outstanding proposals from each province were selected to represent the cultural and artistic wealth of their communities.
