Peñarol 0-1 Central Español: painful defeat of Diego Aguirre’s team after 10 minutes of added time, with nine men and no reaction for the Intermediate Tournament
Penarol They lost 1-0 in the hour against Central Español this Monday with their new alternative shirt and left three important points in the Campeón del Siglo Stadium for date 3 of the Intermediate Tournament.
Diego Aguirre’s team dominated the first half in which the rival, although they got behind, counterattacked very well.
For the 5-2-3 system proposed by Central Español, Peñarol had one of the two central midfielders it placed to spare.
Rodolfo was the main protagonist of the first half with three goal saves, two from Matías Arezo and a header from Diego Laxalt.
The latter was the great person responsible for the Aurinegro football and figure, but the people of Palermo closed his paths and he was left too alone, although sometimes Leandro Umpiérrez accompanied him correctly.
At the end of the first half, Aguilera hit a free kick off the crossbar and those 45 minutes ended 0-0.
For the start of the complement, Diego Aguirre made two changes with the arrival of Javier Cabrera and Abel Hernández for Diego Laxalt and Gastón Togni. Although he had yellow, the departure of Laxalt was surprising, who perhaps came out somewhat sensible.
In that second part, the carboneros lost the compass of everything. No matter how much Aguirre made changes, they were not enough. He also took out Matías Arezo and made room for Facundo Batista, Eric Remedi also came in, but nothing changed.
Central continued playing at its own pace and without complications, as it had in the first half.
But in the end came an expulsion, well ordered, of Lucas Ferreira for an unintentional kick on the head of a rival that the VAR made referee Hernán Heras see. Eric Remedi also saw red at the same moment for excessive protests and two yellow cards in a row, and Matías Arezo, who was on the substitute bench, already replaced, for pushing the fourth referee.
To make the story worse for the Aurinegros in this match, Lucas Pino hung it from the corner when they were 90+10′, and Central Español took a victory that, apparently in the first half, would have been surprising, but that in the second half, faced with another total ineffectiveness of Diego Aguirre’s men, they were able to achieve.
