Today, Monday, the Arab Republic of Egypt expressed its strong condemnation of the repeated and provocative incursions carried out by Israeli settlers into the Blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque under the protection of the Israeli police, and the accompanying unacceptable practices and violations that affect the sanctity of Islamic sanctities and the existing historical and legal situation in occupied Jerusalem.
In a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Egypt categorically condemned the ongoing Israeli escalation in the city of Jerusalem and the occupied West Bank, and the incursions, arrests, and attacks on Palestinians and their property, in flagrant violation of international law and relevant international legitimacy resolutions.
The statement stressed that these escalatory practices would inflame tensions and undermine the chances of achieving calm and stability in the occupied Palestinian territories and the entire region, warning of the danger of violating religious sanctities or attempting to impose a new reality in occupied Jerusalem.
Egypt renewed its call on the international community to assume its responsibilities to stop the ongoing Israeli violations against the Palestinian people, and to ensure respect for the existing historical and legal status of the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, in a way that achieves the legitimate aspirations of the Palestinian people and contributes to restoring security and stability in the region.
